Mehr Parkmöglichkeiten beim Pringles Kitesurf World Cup 2015

Zur Verbesserung der Parkplatzsituation hat die veranstaltende Agentur ACT AGENCY GmbH des Pringles Kitesurf World Cup zusammen mit dem Ordnungsamt, der Polizei und der Tourismuszentrale St. Peter-Ording für den Event ein neues Verkehrskonzept erarbeitet. Sieben neue Abstellflächen erweitern das Angebot. Die Vorbereitungen für den Pringles Kitesurf World Cup 2015 laufen auf Hochtouren. Ein neues Konzept zur Entlastung des Verkehrsaufkommens wurde entwickelt, bei dem besonders der Schutz des Strandparkplatzes im Mittelpunkt steht. Mit dem neuen Ansatz haben sich alle Beteiligten der Problematik der letzten Jahre angenommen. Daraus resultiert für alle Gäste der Veranstaltung das Angebot von nun insgesamt sieben öffentlich nutzbaren, kostenpflichtigen Parkplätzen im Zeitraum der Veranstaltung. Das geballte Verkehrsaufkommen soll entzerrt und insbesondere der Missbrauch des unter Naturschutz stehenden Strandplatzes, der in der Vergangenheit als Übernachtungs- und Partyfläche für Privatpartys genutzt wurde, verhindert werden. Um einen geregelten und möglichst reibungslosen Verkehrsfluss zu gewährleisten, werden die Abstellflächen im Zeitraum der Veranstaltung über ein Verkehrsleitsystem ausgeschildert und entsprechend bewirtschaftet. Die Parkeinrichtungen sind mit WC-Kabinen ausgestattet, Mitarbeiter des Ordnungsdienstes sind sowohl tagsüber als auch in den Nachtstunden im Einsatz. Werden die Ordnungsrichtlinien verletzt, werden Platzverweise gegen die betroffenen Fahrzeughalter ausgesprochen und wiederrechtlich abgestellte Fahrzeuge können abgeschleppt werden. Die errichteten Flächen verteilen sich in einem Umkreis von etwa zwei Kilometern um das Eventgelände und werden durch zahlreiche Hinweisschilder gut sichtbar gekennzeichnet. Um den Verkehrsfluss zusätzlich zu optimieren, werden Halteverbote, Straßensperren, Einbahnstraßenregelungen und Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzungen eingerichtet. Übersicht der Parkplätze: P1 – Strandparkplatz Ording Der Strandparkplatz Ording bildet weiterhin die Hauptparkfläche für die Tagesveranstaltungen und ist über die Straße „Am Deich“ erreichbar. Neu ist die Einbahnstraßenregelung an der Deichüberfahrt (Nordseite Zufahrt; Südseite Abfahrt!). Der Parkplatz P1 ist ausschließlich für Fahrzeuge bis 3,5t Gesamtgewicht nutzbar und verfügt über maximal ca. 4.000 Stellplätze, abhängig von der Sandbeschaffenheit. Für Fahrzeuge über 3,5t Gesamtgewicht, LKW, Fahrzeuge mit Wohnwagen und sonstige Gespanne ist die Zufahrt verboten. Die Zufahrt zum Strandparkplatz Ording ist im gesamten Veranstaltungszeitraum bis maximal 18.00 Uhr möglich. Nach Beendigung der Abendveranstaltungen auf dem Eventgelände müssen alle Fahrzeuge den Strandparkplatz Ording verlassen. An den Tagen ohne Abendveranstaltungen gelten die regulären Öffnungszeiten, von 07.30 bis 22.30 Uhr. P3.1 – Utholmer Straße Dieser sehr zentral zum Strandparkplatz Ording gelegene Parkplatz ist über die Utholmer Straße erreichbar. Mit einer Nutzfläche von ca. 8.700 Quadratmeter bietet dieser Parkplatz eine Kapazität für maximal 260 PKW bis 3,5t Gewicht und Wohnmobile. Das Übernachten und Camping ist auf diesem Parkplatz verboten. P3.2 – Utholmer Straße (Zusatzfläche) Der Parkplatz wird für die Abendveranstaltungen freitags und samstags ab 17.00 Uhr in Betrieb genommen und ist ebenfalls über die Utholmer Straße erreichbar. Die Zufahrt erfolgt über den Parkplatz P3.1. Auf den maximal 600 Plätzen können PKW bis 3,5t Gewicht und Wohnmobile abgestellt werden. Das Übernachten und Camping ist auf diesem Parkplatz verboten. P6 – Hungerhamm Die Parkfläche, die für ca. 100 PKW und Wohnmobile konzipiert ist, wird privat bewirtschaftet und kann über die Zufahrt Norderdeich erreicht werden. Hier darf auch im Fahrzeug übernachtet werden. Camping ist auch hier verboten. P7 – Parkstreifen Norderdeich Ab dem Parkplatz Hungerdamm in Richtung Grudeweg wird der rechte Seitenstreifen für die Abendveranstaltungen zum Parken freigegeben. Der Seitenstreifen verfügt über 30 Stellplätze. Der Parkplatz ist für PKW bis zu 3,5t Gewicht und Wohnmobile geeignet. P8 – Neuweg (Zusatzfläche) Der Parkplatz im Neuweg befindet sich auf einer Wiese und wird im Bedarfsfall freitags und samstags für die Abendveranstaltungen ab 17.00 Uhr in Betrieb genommen. Da sich dieser Parkplatz nicht in Laufnähe zum Veranstaltungsgelände befindet, werden in der Zeit von 19.00 Uhr bis 03.00 Uhr Shuttlebusse eingerichtet, die die Haltestelle „Parkplatz Neuweg“ mit der Haltestelle „Beach Motel“ (Überfahrt Strandparkplatz Ording) verbinden. In ca. 600 Meter Entfernung vom Parkplatz Neuweg befindet sich der Marktplatz mit einer Anbindung an den Ortsbus St. Peter-Ording. Das Übernachten und Camping ist auf diesem Parkplatz verboten. Campingplatz Partner MeerGrün in Tating Der Campingplatz MeerGrün – die Westküsten Lodge stellt für den Eventzeitraum eine weitere Fläche für Übernachtungsgäste zur Verfügung. Die Fläche verfügt über 450 Plätze inklusive ca. 260 PKW-Stellplätze für Zelte. Freitags und Samstags in den Zeiten von 19.00 – 23.00 und 24.00 – 03.00 wird ein Busshuttleservice zwischen dem Campingplatz und dem Eventgelände eingerichtet. Der Shuttle wird im 30-Minuten-Rhythmus verkehren und die Stationen Beach Motel – Ehrenmal und den Campingplatz Tating anfahren. Tag 3: Endlich Wind! Pierre Mortefon und Fulya Ünlü führen in Alacati!

Heute, am dritten Tag des Pegasus Airlines Alacati PWA-World Cups kam endlich der ersehnte Wind. Je eine Elimination bei den Damen und Herren konnten bei Windstärken um 9-15 Knoten abgeschlossen werden. Am Ende des dritten Tages, an den die „üblichen Verdächtigen“ früher als erwartet ausschieden, führt Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / North) das Herrenranking und Fulya Ünlü (Severne) das Damenranking an. Women’s / Winners’ Final Marion Mortefon (Patrik / Gun Sails) made a flying start to the opening winners’ final of the week and was able to take full advantage of her great start to lead into the first mark ahead of Fulya Ünlü, Delphine Cousin (Starboard / Gun Sails), Lena Erdil (Patrik / Point-7 / Mystic / AL360) and Cagla Kubat (Starboard / Severne). It looked for all the world that Mortefon would be claiming victory, but Ünlü had other ideas and after rounding the final mark with a tight gybe the nineteen year old stormed down the final reach to capture the first bullet of the week - leaving Mortefon to settle for second place. Meanwhile, Kubat was able to manoeuvre herself into third followed by Cousin and Erdil, who finished fourth and fifth respectively. Oda Johanne (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) enjoyed a good first day on the PWA Slalom World Tour as the freestyle vice-world champion won the loser’s final to finish ninth in her first slalom elimination ever. The Norwegian overtook Mio Anayama (Starboard / NeilPryde) and never looked back, whilst Maria Andrés (Fanatic / North) was able to climb into second place ahead of Anayama and Marianne Rautelin Kaplas (Starboard / Loft Sails). Men’s / Winners’ Final Sebastian Kördel (Starboard / GA Sails) was absolutely flying in the rounds leading up to final, but was disqualified from Heat 16 after a premature start. Upon the restart Malte Reuscher (JP / NeilPryde) timed his start perfectly, but was powerless to stop Pierre Mortefon from marching into the lead as the fleet approached the first buoy. After cleanly exiting the gybe Mortefon continued to look blisteringly quick and built an unassailable lead over the remainder of the course to claim an emphatic victory, whilst Reuscher finished comfortably in second place. Behind the front two Tristan Algret (Starboard / Severne) and Maciek Rutkowski (Patrik / Point-7) sailed well to secure their place in third and fourth place - keeping Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) at bay. Pierre Mortefon: "It was nice, a bit of gust like always in Alacati, but good conditions. I managed to pass heat after heat which I was happy about as a lot of good guys fell early today. So I wanted to take it easy, but not too easy, so it was finding the right balance. When I knew I was in the final I wanted to make a good start and after I got that I knew that I had the speed to stay in the front. The first mark is the most important because in this wind after the first mark it's really difficult to pass anyone. I felt confident when I was in the lead and I'm happy with my start to the event.” There were several big upsets in the opening two rounds of the first men’s elimination, but non were bigger than Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) falling in the quarterfinals. The reigning world champion made an uncharacteristic mistake at first as he dropped his opening gybe - and in the light winds failed to make one of his famous comebacks as Nicolas Warembourg (Patrik / Loft Sails / Mystic) won Heat 12 ahead of Alexandre Cousin (Patrik / Loft Sails / Mystic), Maciek Rutkowski and Steve Allen (Starboard / Severne). Elsewhere Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde) - who won the event last year - was unlucky to take a first round exit. The man from Saint Maarten was in second place when Heat 1 was cancelled and missed out on a place in the quarterfinals upon the restart. Quentel wasn’t the only other big name to fall today though on a day full of upsets as the likes of; Antoine Questel (Starboard / GA Sails), Pascal Toselli (99NoveNove / Point-7), Micah Buzianis (JP / NeilPryde), Ben Van der Steen (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) and even last years vice-world champion - Cyril Moussilmani (Starboard / Severne) all took exits before the semifinals. The flip-side of several upsets is that several of other names thrived such as local boy Poyraz Akay who qualified in second place from Heat 1 - fellow Turk Ertugrul Icingir (Starboard / Point-7) also booked his place in the quarterfinals after clinching the final qualifying place in Heat 4. Nineteen year old, Milan Gieingh (Angulo / KA Sail), also qualified for the quarterfinal - as did Erkan Morgan (Starboard / Severne). The forecast for tomorrow doesn’t look quite as good for today with more the wind predicted to be much more west, however as always you never know. Sehr heiss und zu wenig Wind am zweiten Tag.

Richtig Gas gab am heutigen zweiten Tag des Pegasus Airlines Alacati PWA nur das Quecksilber, mit Temperaturen über 40 Grad. Am Nachmittag kam dann auch noch etwas Wind auf, für Rennen war er jedoch zu wenig konstant. Er wurde auch zum Abend hin nicht besser, gegen 18:00 Uhr wurden die Teilnehmer für den heutigen Tag entlassen. Einige Teilnehmerinnen durften im Interview heute einige Fragen beantworten – lest selbst: Earlier in the day we caught up Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins) - who has plenty of slalom experience and currently leads the world tour - but also with Maxime van Gent (Fanatic / North / Maui Ultra Fins), Arrianne Aukes (RRD / Simmer / Maui Ultra Fins), Oda Johanne (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) and Maaike Huvermann (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) all of whom compete on the freestyle tour and are trying their hand at the slalom. Sarah-Quita Offringa: You’ve been extremely successful here over the past few years, how are you feeling about the event this year? SQ: “Yes, Alaçati has been good to me! I guess the conditions just suit me. This year I’m confident, but I also experienced the girls in Korea and everyone has upped their game. I would love to win the event again, but in slalom you really never know so I’m aiming for a top 3 finish.” Who is your biggest threat? SQ: “Here in Turkey I would say the local girls. Lena [Erdil] & Cagla [Kubat] but also very much Fulya Unlu who has shown extreme progress. Besides the Turkish ladies I think Delphine [Cousin] will definitely be a tough one.” If you could choose one person to have dinner with, dead or alive, who would you choose and why? SQ: “I would like to have dinner with Jessie J!” If you could choose one super power what would you choose and why? SQ: “If there’s a talent I could choose then it would be singing. Besides that I wouldn’t mind having spiderwoman abilities.” Last photo you took on your phone? SQ: “Having dinner in Cesme with my Turkish sisters.” Best looking male slalom sailor? SQ: “I think Taty takes home this trophy!” If you won the lottery what would you do? SQ: “I’d fly my family and friends over on my trips so they can also experience the windsurfing, travelling fun. Or buy a boat so I can sail around in the Caribbean. But sharing is caring… I’d give a part of it to people who would actually need it.” Maxime van Gent: What inspired you to come to Alacati? MvG: “Well because me and Amado are on a road trip together, and he has to go to Alacati for the slalom. I actually just went with him not planning to compete, but just to watch and enjoy.” Have you trained slalom before? MvG: “Mmmm… Noo not really I think I tried it once for like 30 min.” What equipment have you brought with you and what’s your goal? MvG: “Because I wasn't planning on competing I didn't bring any gear, when I came here I saw so many girls competing and that motivated me to also compete, thx to my travel buddy I can borrow his gear (Sssttt...???? ).” If you could choose one person to have dinner with, dead or alive, who would you choose and why? MvG: “Mmmm… that’s a good one, I think I would like to go to dinner with my mom and dad at the moment didn't have a family dinner in a while, or with a really rich guy and hoping he will sponsor me.” If you could choose one super power what would you choose and why? MvG: “I would love to FLY!!! Then traveling would be soo easy!” Best looking male slalom sailor? MvG: “Mmm… No comment.” If you won the lottery what would you do? MvG: “I would give my self a big boob job / a** and then buy a huge house and car and live like a rich b***h… hahahaha.” Arrianne Aukes: What inspired you to come to Alacati? AA: ““We sadly only had one freestyle event this year, so I decided to have a go in the other disciplines. I also went to Tenerife for the waves. I like the competition part of slalom where you are actually racing against each other, but I must say doing freestyle and waves is SO much less hassle. There’s so much equipment needed!” Have you trained slalom before? AA: “Haha uhm, maybe I’ve done 10 sessions in the last 3 years all together… and I only tried my slalom equipment once last week, after I came back from Tenerife. But I was here in 2012! Lena Erdil convinced me to race when I was here to watch the slalom. That was my first experience on slalom equipment in my life and I finished 16th out of 26 sailors and it was so much fun.” What equipment have you brought with you and what’s your goal? AA: “A 114l and 98l X-Fire RRD and 5.8m, 6.2m, 7.0m and 7.8m SC Slalom Simmer Sails and AL360 booms. My goal is to get some experience in slalom racing; I could train at home but I think you learn 100 times more by competing.” If you could choose one person to have dinner with, dead or alive, who would you choose and why? AA: “I would rather not have dinner with a dead person haha. No… joking, I think Nelson Mandela would be an interesting and charming person to have dinner with.” Last photo you took on your phone? AA: “A breakfast photo with Oda and Maaike.” Best looking male slalom sailor? AA: “Taty!” If you won the lottery what would you do? “I would buy a house so I have a place to come home to, a sailing boat big enough for friends and family and windsurf and SUP boards and then sail around the world for a year!” Oda Johanne: What inspired you to come to Alacati? OJ: “The excitement of competition. I just love it!” Have you trained slalom before? OJ: “12 time :) I just got my gear.” What equipment have you brought with you? OJ: “Starboard iSonics - 110l, 97l and 87l. Severne Reflex 6s in 6.2m, 7.0m, 7.8m and 8.6m.” If you could choose one person to have dinner with, dead or alive, who would you choose and why? OJ: “Michael Jackson! Because he might show me how to moonwalk and I’ve been trying to learn it for years…” If you could choose one super power what would you choose and why? OJ: “To fly because then I wouldn’t need to spend money on a drone to film windsurfing.” Last photo you took on your phone? “A photo of the heat order and which heat I’m in.” Best looking male slalom sailor? “That’s a secret…” If you won the lottery what would you do? “Buy an apartment/house - rent it out and just go windsurfing.” Maaike Huvermann: What inspired you to come to Alacati? “There was just one freestyle event, so there’s not else I can do.” Have you trained slalom before? MH: “Not really, I did a local slalom event, but I was not using real slalom equipment.” What equipment have you brought with you and what’s your goal? MH: “I only bought a Starboard iSonic 107l here and also my freestyle kit. The rest of the slalom equipment I’ve borrowed. My goal is to sail 1 winners final and to finish in the overall top 16.” If you could choose one person to have dinner with, dead or alive, who would you choose and why? MH: “Just with friends from school.” If you could choose one super power what would you choose and why? MH: “Flying! Then I can do any move I want without crashing haha.” Last photo you took on your phone? MH: “Just a random beach photo.” Best looking male slalom sailor? MH: “Secret.” If you won the lottery what would you do? MH: “Save a bit of money, finish school and then windsurfing in Bonaire, Brazil, Australia, South Africa…., etc.” PWA: Thanks girls and good luck to all of you when the racing gets underway. PWA Alacati - Day 1

Registration done and dusted and the world’s best are now rigged and ready for action.

The inaugural day of the 2015 Pegasus Airlines Alacati PWA World Cup saw a total of 95 competitors registering for the upcoming competition - with 64 men and 31 women signing up by the end of registration, which is the highest women’s attendance in many years.

With the mercury soaring into the 30s on the opening day, most of the fleet spent day seeking the shade, whilst preparing their equipment for the next six days of competition. Unfortunately, as expected it wasn’t possible to begin the racing on day one with the wind in the opposite direction to the normal prevailing Meltemi wind, however the forecast looks marginally better for tomorrow with the wind swinging back to the northwest in the afternoon meaning the local thermal affect could potentially kick in to get the action underway.

Earlier in the day we quickly caught up with Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde), who claimed his maiden event victory here last year:

PWA: You won the event here last year - are you happy to be back?

JQ: “I’m happy to be back, I like Alacati a lot. It’s generally easy sailing, but the start is tricky here. Unfortunately the forecast for the week ahead isn’t the best, but hopefully it looks like the wind will come back for the last two days of the event.”

PWA: How are you feeling ahead of the event?

JQ: “I feel fine, the only thing I don’t like is being in the first heat when the wind can still be a bit light and you are stuck with no wind and tricky racing conditions. Maybe the best thing is for the women to go first haha.”

PWA: Do you feel any pressure extra pressure with a title to defend?

JQ: “Some people are asking me about whether winning here last year puts more stress on me, but to be honest I feel exactly the same. I’m happy to just relax and wait for the wind.”

Maria Andres (Fanatic / North), who is recovering from a back injury: “My back is much better than it was - I injured it one week before an event in Sylt and I thought it would be okay to sail, but it hadn’t properly recovered. I recently changed sponsors to Fanatic and North in June and I love the new sails as they are so light, which helps a lot. My back still feels a bit strange and I’m having to use a seat harness for the time being, but I think in the future I’ll hopefully change back to a waist harness.”

Großes Freestyle Finale bei Kitesurf Masters Norderney Meistertitel gehen an Maus im Racing und Marian Hund im Freestyle.

Am Finaltag der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters auf Norderney brachten fünf bis sechs Windstärken Bedingungen für die Freestyler. Bereits früh am Morgen starteten die Wettbewerbe, um den Finaltag optimal auszunutzen. Der auflandige Wind und die Brandung stellten die Fahrer dabei vor echte Herausforderungen. Die Kiter zeigten Ihre Tricks deshalb aber zum Anfassen nah.

Bei den Herren konnte sich in einem spannenden Finale Linus Erdmann, der Deutsche Meister von 2014 durchsetzen. Platz zwei ging an Marian Hund, der die aktuelle Jahresrangliste im Freestyle vor dem Finale auf Norderney anführte. Im B-Finale erkämpfte sich Florian Gruber den dritten Platz auf dem Podium und zeigte damit, dass er nicht nur in der Disziplin Racing Spitzenleistungen bringt. Max Petrat kam auf Platz vier.

Im Damenfeld siegte Sabrina Lutz im Finale gegen Gina Bihn und sicherte sich so den ersten Platz auf Norderney. Im B-Finale konnte Semira Bernat über Nina Schumacher triumphieren und kam so auf Platz drei. Dominik Wallner aus Zernin konnte im Juniorenfeld gewinnen. Im Finale setzte er sich gegen Jakob Kiebler aus Thanning durch. Im B-Finale siegte Ben Hoffmann über Julian Hein und sicherte sich so Platz drei.

Die Racer hatten ihre Rennen bereits nach den ersten beiden Veranstaltungstagen abgeschlossen. In dieser Disziplin dominierte auf Norderney Florian Gruber vor Jannis Maus und Emmanuel Norman.

Beim Finalevent der Tour wurden aber nicht nur die Veranstaltungssieger geehrt, sondern auch die Bestplatzierten der diesjährigen Never Summer Kitesurf Masters und damit die offiziellen Deutschen Meister im Kitesurfen 2015.

In der Disziplin Racing sichert sich Jannis Maus aus Oldenburg mit Platz eins in der Jahresrangliste den Deutschen Meistertitel. Maus konnte zwei der drei Events in dieser Saison gewinnen und wurde einmal zweiter.

„Ich bin total stoked! Wahnsinn. Ich bin Deutscher Meister im Racing 2015!“ freut sich der sympathische Blondschopf. Ich bin glücklich, dass wir bei jeden Tourstopp der Kitesurf Masters so viele Rennen fahren konnten und die Events so gut organisiert waren. Ich hoffe auf spannende Rennen mit Florian Gruber und Emmanuel Norman in der kommenden Saison.“

Vizemeister wird Emmanuel Norman aus Bedburg. Er verbuchte in dieser Saison zweimal Platz zwei und einmal einen dritten Platz für sich. Erwin Gruber aus Garmisch-Partenkirchen bewies mit konstant starken Leistungen, dass man auch als Master (Ü35) im Racing erfolgreich sein kann. Detlef Groebert aus Fehmarn und Elias Ouahmid komplettierten die Top-5. Der überlegene Sieg von Florian Gruber bei der Finalveranstaltung zeigte das beeindruckende Potenzial des Garmisch-Partenkircheners. Allerdings fehlten dem Weltmeister von 2014 zwei Veranstaltungsergebnisse, so dass er nicht mehr direkt in den Kampf um den Deutschen Meistertitel eingreifen konnte.

Beste Dame ist Annett Bremer mit Platz sechs in der Racingrangliste 2015 vor Sonja Bunte (Platz acht) und Noussa Denkler (Platz 24). Bei den Junioren beeindruckte Elias Ouamid aus Kempten. Mit einem fünften Platz in der Gesamtwertung wurde er bester Nachwuchsfahrer vor Jan Bremer aus Hamburg und Julian Hein aus Dorsten.

Durch den Freestyle-Contest am Finaltag der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters wurde es in der Freestyle-Rangliste noch einmal spannend. Der zweite Platz beim Saisonfinale genügte allerdings Manuel Hund, um seine Führung in der Jahresrangliste zu verteidigen und sich damit den offiziellen Deutschen Meistertitel in der Disziplin Freestyle zu sichern. Linus Erdmann schob sich durch seinen Sieg beim Finale noch auf Platz zwei und kann sich so über den Deutschen Vizemeistertitel freuen.

Bei den Damen konnte Sabrina Lutz, die Deutsche Meisterin von 2014 ihren Titel erfolgreich verteidigen. Mit zwei Siegen in zwei Freestyles dominierte sie das Frauenfeld in dieser Disziplin. Gina Bihn sicherte sich mit Platz zwei beim Finale auch den Vizemeistertitel in der Jahresrangliste im Freestyle. Beim Kampf um Platz drei gab es ein Kopf-an-Kopf-Duell zwischen Nina Schumacher und Semira Bernnat. Beide liegen am Ende der Saison punktgleich auf Platz 3. Nur durch die bessere Platzierung bei der Abschlussveranstaltung kann Bernnat Schumacher auf Platz vier verdrängen und sich so den alleinigen Platz drei sichern.

Bei den Junioren sicherte sich Jakob Kiebler den Sieg in der Jahresrangliste. Dominik Wallner kommt auf Platz zwei in der Freestyle Rangliste der Junioren. Paul Möller sichert sich Platz drei.

Die Premiere der Kitesurf Masters auf Norderney war ein großer Erfolg. Mehrere tausend Kitesurf-Fans und Touristen pilgerten zur Finalveranstaltung der offiziellen deutschen Meisterschaftsserie an den Norderneyer Nordstrand und genossen die einmalige Beach-Atmosphäre in dem Kite-Village. Abendliches Highlight war die große Beachparty am Samstagabend. Mehrere hundert Partygäste genossen die Sounds des DJ-Teams und tanzten bis spät in die Nacht am Strand.

Der Event auf Norderney bildete den krönenden Abschluss für die diesjährige Tour der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters. Die Kitesurf Masters haben sich als offizielle Meisterschaftsserie im Kitesurfen fest etabliert und sind der Anziehungspunkt für die nationale Kite-Elite.

Gruber dominiert Kitesurf Masters Norderney.

Der zweite Tag der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters brachte perfekte Bedingungen für die Kitesurfer. Bei drei bis vier Windstärken wurden fünf Wettfahrten in der durchgeführt. Durch den auflandigen Wind konnten Start und Ziel dicht am Strand ausgelegt werden. So verfolgten mehrere tausend Zuschauer die spannenden Rennen aus der ersten Reihe.

Florian Gruber aus Garmisch-Partenkirchen setzte seine Dominanz von Auftakttag weiter fort. Der Weltmeister von 2014 siegte mit großem Vorsprung in sämtlichen Wettfahrten und führt nach dem zweiten Tag die Racingwertung bei den Kitesurf Masters Norderney mit großem Vorsprung an. Nach insgesamt sechs Wettfahrten kann jeder Fahrer sein schlechtestes Ergebnis streichen. Florian Gruber dominiert die Racingwertung überlegen mit sechs Siegen in sechs Wettfahrten. Konsequenterweise liegt er damit am Ende des zweiten Veranstaltungstages an der Spitze der Racingwertung mit der Idealpunktzahl 3,5.

Im Kampf um Platz zwei hatte Jannis Maus, der aktuell Führende der Racing-Rangliste, die Nase vorn. Vier mal lief er auf Platz zwei ein. Nur in zwei Wettfahrten musste er neben Gruber andere Fahrer passieren lassen. Insgesamt kommt Maus auf 11,0 Punkte. Außerdem konnte er sich als bester Tubekiter in Szene setzen. Auch Emmanuel Norman präsentierte sich beim Abschlussevent der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters wieder in bestechender Form. Nur zwei Punkte hinter Jannis Maus sichert er sich mit 13,0 Punkten den dritten Platz auf dem Podium. Auf Platz vier folgt Erwin Gruber mit 21,0 Punkten. Der Junior Elias Ouamid komplettiert die Top-5 mit 28,0 Punkten. Beste Dame ist Annett Bremer mit 49,8 Punkten.

Für den Finaltag sehen die Vorhersagen sehr vielversprechend aus. Bei vier bis fünf Windstärken sollen dann die Freestyler zum Zuge kommen. Die Akrobaten der Luft könnten dann der offiziellen deutschen Meisterschaftsserie ein perfektes Finale bescheren. Der Start ist für 8:00 Uhr angesetzt. Im Rahmen der Siegerehrung werden dann nicht nur die Veranstaltungssieger, sondern auch die Deutschen Kitemeister 2015 geehrt.

Alacati PWA World Cup

Das Titelrennen um den Slalom Worlcup 2015 geht in Alacati weiter!

Vom 17. bis 22. August starten sowohl die Männer als auch die Damen zu spannenden Slalomrennen im türkisfarbenen Wasser von Alacati, Türkei. Bei den Herren ist es der vierte Event in diesem Jahr, damit ist auch ein Streicher möglich, wodurch das Gesamtranking möglicherweise ordentlich durcheinander gewirbelt wird. Bei den Damen ist der Event in Alacati erst der zweite in diesem Jahr, hier ist noch einiges möglich. Spannend wird es auf jeden Fall, leider gibt es in diesem Jahr keinen Live-Stream, aktuell verfolgen lassen sich die einzelnen Rennen über den Liveticker der PWA.

From the 17th-22nd August both the men’s and women’s slalom fleets shall be returning to action for more warp speed racing as they head to the stunning turquoise waters of Alacati, Turkey. The men will be taking to the race course for their fourth time this season - meaning a discard will come into play after the event, which could cause a few shakeups in the rankings, whilst the women will be readying themselves for their second battle of the year as both title races begin to gather pace.

Alacati is located on the Cesme peninsula, just a thirty minute drive from the bustling city of Izmir. Primarily known for its stunning natural stone villas, chic boutiques, traditional cafes and fantastic restaurants, Alacati has started to experience a change in cliental, in recent years, as thousands of windsurfers, from all around the globe, flock to the stunning shores of Alacati to take advantage of the beautiful turquoise waters and clockwork like Meltemi winds, which blow consistently between the months of May to October. Combine this with the gorgeous local scenery and cosmopolitan vibe and you can quickly understand why Alacati is continuing to enhance its reputation as not only a windsurfing Mecca, but also as the must visit destination in Turkey, so much so that it is now challenging Bodrum for the title of Turkey’s most stylish Aegean resort. Ones to Watch

Men's

Antoine Albeau (RRD / NeilPryde) cemented his place at the top of the rankings with a flawless performance in Fuerteventura - demonstrating the pace and power that has made him such a successful racer over the years. AA has a superb record in Alacati with two victories and a second place over the last few seasons and he will enter the event as the favourite as he goes in search of back-to-back victories - and his third overall victory for 2015. Expect to see Albeau gunning for the top again come the end of the week.

Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails / Mystic) is Albeau’s closest challenger as things currently stand after another fantastic performance in Fuerte, which saw the Brit continue his fine start to the season to claim his second podium finish of the year. Williams is enjoying one of his best ever seasons so far and has performed well in Turkey in the past - and there’s no reason that he shouldn’t be heavily involved again in Alacati.

Williams’ may be Albeau’s closest rival at the moment, but that could all change with the discard coming into play after the event in Turkey and it is Matteo Iachino (Fanatic / North), who stands to benefit from it the most. The Italian currently holds a first and a second place and could potentially dislodge Albeau from the top of the rankings, but only if he is able to earn victory in Alacati, which is a real possibility with the way he has been sailing this year.

Pierre Mortefon (Fanatic / North) is tied on points with teammate - Matteo Iachino - and threatened to win the event in 2013 when he led the rankings going into the final day. The twenty-five year old loves the mirror flat water of Alacati and he should be in contention again. Expect to see Mortefon challenging for top honours come the end of the week.

After a disappointing opening result in Korea - 20th - Cyril Moussilmani (Starboard / Severne) has re-established himself in the world’s top five after fifth and seventh place finishes in Costa Brava and Fuerteventura, respectively. The vice-world champion is usually one of the most consistent sailors and you can expect to see him challenging for a top five finish again.

Julien Quentel (RRD / NeilPryde) will arrive in Alacati with fond memories after winning his maiden event on the PWA Slalom World Tour this time last year in Turkey. Quentel is incredibly quick and will be determined to defend his event title, so you can expect to see a big performance from the man from Saint Maarten.

Ben Van der Steen’s results have improved in each of this year’s events and he looks to be approaching top form after his latest fifth place finish in Fuerteventura. The flying Dutchman won his opening elimination of the year in Fuerte and has performed well here in recent years with a second, fifth and ninth place finishes over the last three seasons. Van der Steen should be challenging for the top five again and with his blistering speed has the potential to go all the way.

The top ten is currently completed by France’s Alexandre Cousin (Patrik / Loft Sails / Mystic), Australia’s Steve Allen (Starboard / Severne) and American Micah Buzianis (JP) - all of whom will be hoping for another top ten finish.

As always there’s plenty of other names that are more than capable of pushing into the top ten and beyond and you can expect to see the likes of Sebastian Kördel (Starboard / GA Sails), Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (Starboard / Point-7), Josh Angulo (Angulo / Gun Sails), Antoine Questel (Starboard / GA Sails), Pascal Toselli (99NoveNove / Point-7) and Arnon Dagan (RRD / NeilPryde) as well as many others fighting hard for a place in the top ten. Also keep a look out for Taty Frans (Starboard / GA Sails / Mystic) who earned sixth place in Fuerteventura.

Women’s

Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins) currently leads the way on the women’s world tour after snatching a dramatic late victory in Korea, when she won the final elimination of the event to steal victory from the claws of Lena Erdil (Patrik / Point-7 / Mystic / AL360). Offringa has been unstoppable in Alacati over the past three years - claiming three emphatic victories and she’ll be the one that everyone else has to try and stop - however if Offringa continues her superb form then those efforts maybe in vein.

Having come so close to achieving her maiden success on the PWA Slalom World Tour in the opening event of the year - Lena Erdil - will be more determined than ever to go one better this time around. The twenty-six year old has been incredibly consistent over the last year and she’ll be hoping she can produce another big performance on her home waters to keep her title challenge alive.

Also in contention will be fellow Turk Fulya Unlu (Starboard / Severne) who comes into the event on the back of her first podium finish. Unlu was crowned the PWA Youth Slalom World Champion last year and has clearly made significant progress again and looks to be maturing into a real threat.

You can also expect to see a big performance from reigning world champion - Delphine Cousin (Starboard / Gun Sails) - who will be looking to kick start her season after a disappointing fourth place in the first event of the year.

There will be a strong Turkish turnout in the women’s fleet and aside from Lena Erdil and Fulya Unlu - Cagla Kubat (Starboard / Severne) is the next closest contender and should be involved in the top five come the end of the week.

A total of 29 girls have registered for the second slalom event of the year and among those you’d expect to see multiple time world champion - Valerie Ghibaudo (Tabou / GA Sails) - bounce back from a slow start to the season, whilst the likes of Ayako Suzuki (Starboard / GA Sails), Maria Andrés (Fanatic / North / Mystic) and Marion Mortefon (Starboard / Severne) should be pushing for the top ten and beyond.

The forecast is currently looking quite light for the opening couple of days of the event, but as we’ve just seen in Tenerife anything can happen. The latter half of the week then looks better with the return of the normal weather pattern for Alacati, which should ensure more close-quarters, adrenaline fuelled slalom. Auftakt nach Maß für die deutsche Kite-Elite Florian Gruber führt bei Kitesurf Masters Norderney.

Die Premiere der Kitesurf Masters auf Norderney erlebte einen Auftakt nach Maß. Bei traumhaftem Sonnenschein wurden mehrere tausend Besucher an den Strand der Nordseeinsel gelockt. Im Rennen des Tages konnte sich der Topfavorit Florian Gruber aus Garmisch-Partenkirchen durchsetzen.

Zunächst musste sich die deutsche Kite-Elite etwas gedulden. Doch gegen Mittag wurde dann die Disziplin Racing gestartet. Der Garmisch-Partenkirchener Florian Gruber konnte sich bereits kurz nach dem Start vom Feld absetzen. Im Verlauf des Rennens vergrößerte er seinen Vorsprung immer weiter. So konnte sich der amtierende Deutsche Meister sogar noch einen Fehler in der zweiten Runde leisten. Gruber verpasste die letzte Bahnmarke. Er bemerkte jedoch noch rechtzeitig seinen Fehler und kehrte um. Der Vorsprung von Gruber war groß genug, dass er sich trotz der Korrektur seines Fehlers ungefährdet den Sieg sichern konnte.

Wesentlich enger gestaltete sich der Kampf um Platz zwei. Hier lieferten sich Emmanuel Norman und Erwin Gruber ein packendes Duell. Gerade als in der Endphase des Rennens nach einem Winddreher nicht mehr direkt ins Ziel steuern konnte, wurde es noch einmal richtig spannend. Knapp konnte Norman über Erwin Gruber triumphieren.

Janis Maus, der die aktuelle Jahresrangliste der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters in der Disziplin Racing anführt, vergriff sich bei der Materialwahl und lief nur auf einem für ihn ungewohnten vierten Platz ein. Andreas Hanrieder komplettiert die Top-5 nach dem ersten Tag.

Never Summer Kitesurf Masters Norderney: Wer wird Deutscher Meister 2015?

Vom 14. – 16. Juli 2015 treffen sich die besten deutschen Kitesurfer auf der Nordseeinsel Norderney zum Finale der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters 2015. Angetreten wird in den Disziplinen Racing und Freestyle.

„Norderney ist der perfekte Standort für das Finale der deutschen Meisterschaftsserie. Bei den ersten beiden Tourstopps waren wir auf der ruhigen Ostsee. Auf der rauen Nordsee vor Norderney wird sich die Spreu vom Weizen trennen. Wir dürfen gespannt sein, wer auch diese Bedingungen meistert“, so Pascal Matzke von der German Kitesurf Association (GKA).

Beim dritten und letzten Tourstopp der Never Summer Kitesurf Masters 2015 auf Norderney geben die Teilnehmer noch einmal alles um letzte und wichtige Punkte für die Gesamtrangliste zu sammeln. Denn am Ende werden nicht nur die Sieger der Veranstaltung sondern auch der offizielle Deutsche Meister gekürt.

Heiße Favoriten in der Disziplin Freestyle sind die Hamburger Marian Hund und Sabrina Lutz. Aber auch der amtierende Deutsche Meister Linus Erdmann wird versuchen seinen Titel zu verteidigen. Im Racing gehen der Deutsche Vize-Meister Jannis Maus und bei den Damen Sonja Bunte und Anett Bremer an den Start.

Neben den Wettkämpfen auf dem Wasser sorgen eine Gastronomie- und Shoppingmeile auf die Besucher. Auf der Slackline und dem Pump Track direkt am Nordstrand können die Wassersportfans ihren Gleichgewichtssinn auf die Probe stellen. Eine Winch, die die Kitesurfer mit Hilfe eines Motors und einem langen Seil über das Wasser zieht, verspricht auch bei Flaute Action auf dem Wasser.

Am Samstag (15.08.15) sorgt ab 20:00 Uhr die große Beach Party mit den Jungs und Mädels von WeBÄÄM! nochmal richtig für Stimmung. Im Sonnenuntergang und mit Sand unter den Füßen machen wir die Nacht zum Tag. Jeder Besucher ist herzlich eingeladen, zusammen mit den Stars der Kitesurfszene zu feiern. Wir haben unseren Bilderupload rundum neu gemacht, jetzt können die Bilder von jedem Smartphone, Tablet und natürlich, so wie bisher auch, vom PC hochgeladen werden. Bisher war der Bilderupload für eigene Reports oder unsere Bildergalerien nur möglich, wenn der jeweils aktuelle Flashplayer auf dem PC installiert war. Von mobilen Geräten wie Smartphones und Tablets konnten deshalb keine Bilder hochgeladen werden. Gerade im Urlaub für viele etwas umständlich, kaum einer trägt neben dem Mobiltelefon auch noch Kamera und Laptop mit sich herum. Das ist mit dem neuen Bilderupload vorbei, wir freuen uns auf viele Bilder in euren Reports. Ebenfalls neu – die aktuelle Wassertemperatur wird jetzt auch vom Ammersee, Starnberger See und Chiemsee in das Webcambild eingeblendet. Bei den derzeitigen Wassertemperaturen von 25 Grad nicht die wichtigste Information. Spätestens aber im Herbst, dürfte der Griff zum richtigen Neopren dann einfacher sein. Event Summary: Tenerife delivers outstanding conditions for 5th consecutive year as Victor Fernandez and Daida Moreno reign supreme.

At the start of the week the forecast was looking marginal at best for the fifth edition of the Tenerife PWA World Cup and there was more a question of whether it would be possible to gain a result - rather than trying to predict who would win.

In the four years prior Tenerife had always delivered outstanding conditions and thankfully the wind and wave gods were smiling upon us again to setup an at one-time unlikely grandstand finale to end of the event. Over the course of Saturday and Sunday solid waves were accompanied by winds gusting in excess of 50 knots creating world class conditions in El Medano once more - as the world’s most radical sailors produced what the Head Judge Duncan Coombs described as someone of the best jumping ever seen.

Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North / MFC) was truly on-song in the double elimination - just as he was in Pozo - as the Spaniard denied Jaeger Stone (Starboard / Severne) a maiden victory on the PWA Wave World Tour to be crowned champion, whilst Daida Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) maintained her unbeaten record for 2015 to extend her lead at the top of the overall rankings.

Men’s

Just as in Pozo Victor Fernandez (Fanatic / North / MFC) hit top form in the double elimination to defeat Jaeger Stone twice in the double elimination to become the first man other than Philip Köster (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) to stand at the top of the podium in Tenerife. The Spaniard delivered a supreme performance as he combined full rail gouging turns with radical goiters - as well as landing numerous perfect double forwards and huge one-footed backloops to topple Stone from the top. Victory in Tenerife sees Fernandez assume control at the top of overall rankings.

Jaeger Stone wowed both the crowds and the judges throughout the week with this radical wave riding - consisting of super fluid and stylish vertical snaps together with radical takas right in the pocket. The Aussie went all the way for the first time in his career in the single elimination to claim victory, but couldn’t quite hang onto a maiden win in the double. Stone made an explosive start to the double elimination final with a fully planing tweaked pushloop, but that cost him dearly with his board snapping a few minutes later. The twenty-four year old still pushed Fernandez all the way and whilst disappointed not to clinch his first victory added: “It’s obviously a bit disappointing to snap the board, but that’s competition. The bigger board felt a bit big in the air, but I’d have taken second place if someone had have offered me at the start of the week. I’ll just try to learn from the whole experience and come back stronger.” Stone’s standout performance sees him move up into third place overall.

Philip Köster took an earlier than expected exit in the single - 5th - after going down to an on fire Jaeger Stone. However, the two-time world champion was firing on all cylinders in the double as he thrived in the nuclear winds that he is so used to sailing in at home in Pozo. Köster is renowned for his jumping ability and his performance of Saturday was nothing short of exceptional as he launched into fully planing doubles and some of the biggest and cleanest pushloop forwards ever seen. The twenty-one year old left a trail of destruction on his way to defeating - Adam Lewis (Fanatic / North / SWOX), Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing / MFC), Robby Swift (JP / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins / SWOX), Alex Mussolini (RRD / RRD) and finally Ricardo Campello (Patrik / Point-7 / MFC) to fight back into the top three - before eventual winner Victor Fernandez halted his comeback. Köster now occupies second place in the overalls after two events.

Alex Mussolini (RRD / RRD) sits in fourth place overall after finishing in joint fifth in Tenerife. The Spaniard produced a near perfect wave riding performance in Heat 32 against Köster as he earned outstanding wave scores of 9.38 and 10.12 points - landing the biggest frontside 3 witnessed in competition to reassert his name as the frontside 3 King.

Ricardo Campello moves up to fifth in the overall rankings after claiming fourth place in Tenerife. Campello produced one of the jumping performances of the week in Heat 33 - landing an amazing pushloop forward and a massive double forward. The thirty year old actually out jumped Köster - the only man to do so in the entire week - but couldn’t find the wave scores he needed meaning he missed out by just 0.88 of a point despite a heroic jumping effort.

Reigning world champion - Thomas Traversa (Tabou / GA Sails) - occupies sixth place overall after the second event of the year. The Frenchman again showed his superb wave reading skills to deliver the trademark late hits we’ve become accustomed to seeing, but could only manage joint 7th here. Traversa will now be hoping to head to Cold Hawaii and retain his event title to kick start the defence of his title.

Dany Bruch (Starboard / Challenger Sails / AL360) backed up his excellent start to the season - 4th in Pozo - with another top ten finish at his home-spot. The German was able to defeat Klaas Voget (Fanatic / Simmer / MFC) in an extremely close heat to book his place in the top ten - as he final wave of the heat proved to be the difference such was the closeness between the two sailors. Bruch was hampered by a shoulder injury sustained during the event, but came up against an on-form Robby Swift in the next round, who ended his comeback. Bruch now sits in seventh place overall.

Robby Swift was in fine form in the double elimination as he rotated through several excellent double forwards, whilst impressing on the wave with powerful going turns to earn himself sixth place overall in Tenerife after defeating Dany Bruch and Thomas Traversa. Swift’s fine start to the season sees him rise to eighth in the overall world rankings.

2013 PWA Wave World Champion - Marcilio Browne - returns to the world’s overall top ten after claiming joint seventh in El Medano. The Brazilian again showed his world class jumping ability as he landed a monstrous stalled double, but was unlucky to run into Philip Köster who stopped him from progressing any further in the double elimination.

Britain’s Adam Lewis completes the overall top ten at this stage of the season after storming back through the double elimination. Lewis lost out to fellow countryman - Ben Proffitt (Simmer) - in the first round of the single, but was on fire in the double as he defeated Julian Salmonn (Severne), teammate Alessio Stillrich (Fanatic / North) and Aleix Sanllehy (Tabou / GA Sails) to battle back into joint 9th place.

Women’s

Daida Moreno protected her unbeaten record for 2015 with another jumping masterclass to keep her sister - Iballa Moreno (Starboard / Severne / Maui Ultra Fins) - at bay. Daida landed huge table top forwards and super stylish backloops, whilst also linking together fluid waves to reign supreme once more and extend her lead at the top of the rankings.

Iballa Moreno looked to be in unstoppable form in the double elimination as she produced several waves in the excellent range as she combined fluid vertical turns with an outstanding frontside aerial to firstly defeat Amanda Beenen (99NoveNove / Point-7) and secure her place in the top two. Iballa looked to be in good shape in the final too with another two excellent waves in the bag, but crucially couldn’t land her second jump, meaning she was powerless to stop Daida gaining victory number two of the season.

Amanda Beenen was clearly delighted with her efforts this week as she earned herself a well deserved podium finish for the first time in her career. Beenen edged a narrow duel against Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Mystic / Maui Ultra Fins) in the battle for third and fourth with just 0.37 of a point separating them. In the end it was Beenen’s massive forward which proved to be the difference. The twenty-eight year old also pushed Iballa Moreno all the way in the next heat - landing a radical tabletop forward on the way - but couldn't quite stay ahead despite a great effort.

Sarah-Quita Offringa completes the overall top three at this stage of the season after another excellent performance. Offringa landed perfect pushloops and forwards, whilst executing some slashy turns on the wave as she continue to progress. The Aruban gem finished the week in fourth place overall.

Steffi Wahl (Patrik / Sailloft Hamburg) showed once again that she is one of the most stylish wave riders on the tour as she combined more fluid backside smacks with vertical frontside snaps, but unfortunately despite getting the better of the waves couldn’t stop Sarah-Quita Offringa from progressing in the battle for fourth and fifth. Wahl sits in fifth place overall after the second event of the year.

Alice Arutkin (Fanatic / North) and Justyna Sniady (Simmer / Mystic) share joint sixth in the overall rankings after both finishing in joint seventh for the second successive event.

Youth’s

Marc Paré (99NoveNove / Simmer / Maui Ultra Fins) was disappointed with his third place finish in Pozo but responded in the perfect fashion in Tenerife. The seventeen year old landed a text-book backloop before earning 9 points on his final wave as he rotated through a stylish taka to steal the victory from under the nose of Julian Salmonn, whilst the podium was completed by Noah Vocker (Fanatic / North / Maui Ultra Fins)

Siam Park Dunkerbeck Challenge

The curtain was brought down on the 2015 Tenerife PWA World Cup in spectacular fashion as Ricardo Campello stole the show at Siam Park for the Dunkerbeck Challenge, which took place on the final night. Campello dominated the event last year and this time around it was no different as he landed an absolutely insane double pushloop to defeat Adam Lewis - who took home second place - and Antoine Martin (JP / NeilPryde / MFC) - who completed the podium.

Tenerife pulled through again in the end despite a shaky looking forecast at the start of the week to provide another scintillating week of action, packed with some of the biggest stunts ever seen. El Medano once again show cased itself as a world class destination for wave sailing and the PWA would like to extend their thanks to the locals for the fantastic hospitality again and to Dany and his team for making the event possible.

Where’s Next on the PWA World Tour?

After a short break the men’s slalom fleet are readying themselves for their fourth battle of the season, whilst the women will be returning to action for the first time since Korea in May as both slalom fleets prepare to once again descend upon the beautiful turquoise waters of Alacati from the 17th-22nd August - for what promises to be another adrenaline-fuelled week of racing. Ricardo Campello sets Siam Park alight to be crowned champion of the Dunkerbeck Challenge.

The 2015 Tenerife PWA World Cup was signed off in spectacular fashion on the final evening of the event as ten of the best sailors in the world headed to Siam Park for the Dunkerbeck Challenge.

Siam Park boasts the largest artificial wave in the world - reaching almost 10 foot on its maximum setting - which provided the wave sailing elite with the perfect stunt ramp to launch into their most radical stunts right in front of a packed out crowd - bringing windsurfing to a new scene and reaching a new crowd in the process.

The original lineup saw Valter Scotto (99NoveNove / Challenger Sails / AL360), Markus Rydberg (Simmer), Camille Juban (Quatro / Avanti), Aleix Sanllehy (Tabou / GA Sails), Jules Denel (JP / NeilPryde), Graham Ezzy (Tabou / Ezzy), Adam Lewis (Fanatic / North), Alessio Stillrich (Fanatic / North), Antoine Martin (JP / NeilPryde / MFC) and last year’s champion Ricardo Campello (Patrik / Point-7 / MFC) battling it out for a place in the final.

Only the top five sailors would earn a place in the final and those five places were claimed by Graham Ezzy, Adam Lewis, Alessio Stillrich, Antoine Martin and Ricardo Campello. They were then given three attempts to land their most radical manoeuvres as they tried to land themselves the title.

In the end it was Ricardo Campello who stole the limelight - just as he did last year - as he once again rose to the occasion of entertaining a big crowd. Campello landed two massive opening stunts, but on his final run Campello broke the scale as he landed a huge, perfectly executed double pushloop to earn 15s across the board and leave the result in no doubt.

Britain’s Adam Lewis (Fanatic / North) earned himself second place after landing a superb pushloop - whilst narrowly avoiding landing on the camera man - to earn perfect 10s, whilst he secured his place on the podium with a clean ponch.

The heralded podium was completed by Antoine Martin who was going as crazy as ever. The Frenchman’s best stunt came on his first run in the final as he rotated through a super stylish pushloop with a head throw to earn 9.5-10.5s from the judges.
